About

How I became Uwe Jakob.

In 2002 I left university with a Master of European Media Arts & a diploma in communication design. My master thesis “Vanishing Point Egosphere” examined the way how we strive to construct happiness every day. Through a digital self-experience enabling people to realize their own part in constructing or deconstructing their personal happiness.

During that time I for some reason felt the urge to quit working at Jung von Matt/Neckar after spreading digital happiness there for two and a half years.

My curiosity for innovation and digital brand shaping led me to OgilvyOne in 2004 where I took on the challenge to help driving the digital transformation of the agency. The first proof of my efforts was a golden Cannes Cyber Lion in 2006 for Cisco Systems. At OgilvyOne I became Executive Creative Director and member of the board. During my time there I got the opportunity to work on brands like Cisco, IBM, SAP, Philipps, Lufthansa, Volkswagen, IKEA, Playstation, Coca-Cola, Matchbox, O2, Nescafé, Zeiss, Mini, DHL, Zürich Insurance, ING Diba and many many more.

In 2015 I made a move to Ogilvy & Mather Advertising as Executive Creative Director Digital. My role was help shaping the brand as a fully integrated branded content and advertising agency. I had a strong role in business development and creating digital consumer experiences, interfaces and solutions. My basic goal was to provide consumers with brand and even product experiences that created a whole new perception of the brand. Since 2015 I worked for brands like Mediamarkt, Siemens, Fraport, Schaeffler, Bahn, Allianz and many others.

Over the time I won more than 350 international awards including Cannes, Clio, The One Show, D&AD, New York Festivals, ADC New York, LIAA, Communication Arts, Eurobest, iF Award and some national awards. Including five golden lions at Cannes for Cisco, Malteser and Kontor Records. That gave me the chance to become a judge as well at the New York Festivals, the Art Directors Club, and the LeBook.

I am a member of the Art Directors Club Germany and I am happy to be able to teach students and young talents at Hochschule für angewandte Kunst HildesheimMerz Akadamie Stuttgart and within the lectures series of the Art Directors Club Germany.

Howsoever, business titles or roles are one thing, I simply see myself as an inventor of products and experiences that bridge the gap between emotions and technology.

Business driven design for the digital now. That’s me.

Hi, I am Uwe Jakob. A creative, a designer, a mentor, an impulse and an inventor when it’s about digital. Currently I’am working as a Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy&Mather Germany. As I’ am inherently obsessed with innovation I’am constantly looking for new challenges and digital business opportunities. I believe that classic design creates ads, brands and fans. But digital design is able to achieve much more: It has the power to disrupt, change and enhance your business - or even create a whole new one. Every day. Only through the smart combination of data, technology, human insights, creativity and human centered design. That’s how I won more than 350 awards and became accidentally a business creator during the last 20 years of my career.

Enjoy a selection of my business and creative cases. Please get in contact if you share my passion for digital life and innovation.

Business innovation, product design & patents

Creating the future always was my lifeblood. And it will always be. A main part of my daily work should become the development of new business territories, products and services. Since today I produced several concepts and prototypes. One of them lead to a registered patent, that was sold to a global company. And there are more to come. Please get in contact if you want to know more about them.
